Voiceofsandiego.org announced Friday that the nonprofit news organization is laying off four employees.

Three of the layoffs are news staffers whose work frequently appeared on www.SpeakCityHeights.org: Emily Alpert, education reporter, Adrian Florido, neighborhood reporter, and Sam Hodgson, photo editor.

On Twitter, voiceofsandiego.org’s Editor Andrew Donohue referred to the reporters as family, calling them “incredible journalists” and saying “If there’s a harder day, I don’t want to live it.”

The organization is not planning any additional staff reductions, according to Donohue.
