Senate Introduces Sweeping Immigration Bill
A bipartisan group of Senators unveiled its bill to overhaul the nation’s immigration system Tuesday. The Senate Judiciary Committee began hearings on the bill this morning.

Fronteras Desk gathered local reaction to the bill and found a creative way to explain how its pathways to legal status would work. (Be sure to listen to the audio.) Fronteras also says the bill calls for an expansion of border enforcement.

The Los Angeles Times reports the bill could cause problems for the nation’s safety net, as the bill does not extend public health benefits to immigrants who gain provisional status through the bill.
