Teens and Safety Series: Reflections on Safety

In the first video of an eight part series on teens and safety in City Heights, Crawford High School students reflect on the word “safety.”

For the teens, safety is found in numbers. Most said they feel safest when they’re surrounded by family and friends. Some were quick to note that the same need for support can also fuel gang activity.

Despite dropping crime rates in City Heights, gang activity seems to ebb and flow in the neighborhood and is still considered a significant problem by adult and youth residents alike.
