In the final video of an eight part series on teens and safety in City Heights, Crawford High School students talk about the kinds of crimes they’ve witnessed. More than a third of the class said they’ve been a victim of or know someone who has been a victim of violent crime.
Those who haven’t experienced violence firsthand said there are constant reminders of it in their neighborhood: police sirens, gun shots and news reports.
“You don’t have to be shot to get hurt,” said one student. “You just have to see it. By watching it, you can get hurt.”
