The Aaron Price Fellows Program (APF) is an initiative that helps youth acknowledge the beauty within their community. The APF program’s mission is to prepare highly motivated and diverse San Diego public high school students to be responsible, engaged and caring members of their community. The program gives youth an “up close and personal,” look at government, business, non-profit and cultural institutions,” according to APF program website.
“Aaron Price Fellows isn’t a program, it’s an approach to life,” said Annie Lyles, APF Executive Director and Alumni of the inaugural class of 1994.
The program goes beyond a three-year-long journey during high school. Lyles is one of over 1,000 APF alumni, approximately 500 of whom are City Heights-based. After graduating, fellows can participate in alumni events and are invited to share the work they do in their respective communities during ongoing class programs.
