A “parklet” sprouted on Friday in front of Super Cocina in City Heights Friday. The parking-spots-turned-gathering-spot was hosted by the City Heights Community Development Corporation, Bikes del Pueblo and the Super Cocina restaurant as part of Park(ing) Day, an international effort to highlight the benefits of adding more parks and pedestrian-focused spaces in urban areas. Organizers rolled out artificial turf and used potted plants donated by Evergreen Nursery to create the park-like atmosphere. Bikes del Pueblo used the space to repair bikes for residents.
