People gathered at the Fair at 44 on a winter afternoon to celebrate the opening of Little Saigon Stories, a collection of stories through photography and film honoring Vietnamese refugees and descendants living and working in San Diego’s Little Saigon District on El Cajon Boulevard.
Spoken word artist Viet Mai hosted the evening, inviting participants to share their own “Little Saigon story” as people enjoyed food and refreshments at this community gathering space. Poet Alexander Luu and singer/songwriter Alexander Nguyen provided entertainment and reflection, and a storyteller’s booth provided an opportunity for guests to share their stories on film.
This first exhibit will be available for view at the Fair at 44 until mid-March. For more information on Little Saigon Stories, visit mediaartscenter.org/littlesaigon or follow @littlesaigonstories on Instagram.
