It has been 50 years since the U.S. government declared a “War On Poverty,” but it is still a serious problem across the nation and in San Diego.
A new report by the San Diego Association of Governments used Census data to assess poverty levels in the county.
The study found that one in 10 San Diegans live below the federal poverty line, but the majority of those people are employed.
Nine percent of families are also living below the poverty level. National City, El Cajon and Imperial Beach had some of the highest levels of poverty.
